[Heriot-Watt The Vice-Chancellor's Distinguished Lecture] Professor Toby Peters discusses using air to store energy and his personal journey to keeping the world cool through radical innovation. He is Professor of Transformational Innovation for Sustainability at Heirot-Watt, Chair of Power and Cold Economy at Birmingham and founder of Highview Power Storage and the Dearman Engine Company. [Liquid Air is an alternative to battery powered electric engines and has the following advantages:
  • Runs cold (vs hot internal combustion or electric engines)
  • Engine can be made from cheap plastic
  • Consumes and discharges air
  • Refills faster and more often than batteries
  • No lithium needed (thus no need to mine or dispose)]
