Professor Tan Sri Dr Ghauth Jasmon is well-lnown for his effectiveness in managing both private and public universities. He built MMU from a startup in 1996 into a university with more than 20,000 students in 2007. He transformed the University of Malaya to enable it to move from a global rank of 246 in 2007 to 156 in 2012.

In this Jeffrey Cheah Distinguished Speakers Series lecture, Professor Ghauth will lay out what it takes it takes to produce a World Top 100 University. He will delve into the differences in the nature of public and private institutions of learning in Malaysia, and argue that the future trajectory of Malaysian private universities in global ranking could be surprisingly good.
