The 70s, 80s and 90s are often considered the glory days of Malaysia’s Music Industry. Musicians could carve out a living by just playing music and selling records, we were exporting our music to Indonesia, and musically we were putting out some truly great tunes. 

Then it went downhill. Piracy had a huge part to play in this. The industry stopped investing in local talent with their only goal being to break even in sales. And many Malaysian musicians would take the well traveled path. They would invent less. They would innovate less.

Now, the digital era. The digital music revolution has begun, are Malaysian labels, musicians and artists, adapting fast enough to this change? Are these new platforms worthwhile investing in? How does the future look like for budding musicians? Come by and join the discussion with panelists:
