Art for Grabs is back! This time with the 6th annual edition of the Kuala Lumpur Alternative Bookfest (KLAB). One whole gallery will be taken up by booksellers including Buku Fixi, Selut Press, Merpati Jingga, Lejen Press, Sindiket Soljah and Studio Anai-Anai. Many of these books are certainly not the kind to be found in Popular Book Store.

There will also be dozens of stalls by artists and artisans, with most items being below RM100; and also conscientious NGOs who spread ideas and love. Among them are Shieko, Saat Omar, Mellisa & Azim; handmade merchandisers Be Good Be Good, The Gentleman Kyle Lai; NGOs Heart Nang (Myanmar refugees handmade craft), Gerai Orang Asli, Women of Malaysia, Project Rumah Ibdadat, Teach For The Needs.

Among the book launches are: Yang Nakal-Nakal, the second Fixi Retro book, featuring ‘naughty’ short stories and poems from the late National Laureate Usman Awang. We are also excited to have quite a few movie-related events aside from book launches. There will be a talk-show with the makers of the acclaimed movie Kil; the award-winning documentary World Without Shadow and also Kelab Seni Filem Malaysia’s latest Malaysian Shorts where you get to vote for your 3 favourite short films!
