Grooving Gamelan: assessing musical structures in Southeast Asian gong-chime music, a workshop by  Associate Prof. Made Mantle Hood is brought to you by International College of Music ( ICOM )

A gamelan is a traditional musical ensemble from Indonesia and Malaysia featuring a variety of instruments such as metallophones, xylophones, kendang (drums) and gongs; bamboo flutes, bowed and plucked strings.

Submerse yourself in the percussive world of gongs, drums and metallophones. Using the five-tone Javanese gamelan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Made Mantle Hood from Universiti Putra Malaysia will share the secrets of gamelan rhythmic cycles and interlocking melodic figuration.
