This year, we seek to explore the fundamental artistry and processes behind creative disciplines. The focus will be on the importance of making and doing, and how creators become wholly involved and engaged in what they are creating. It will be a time for celebrating designer-artisans who pour their souls, blood, sweat, tears and all, into the act of perfecting their craft, individuals who are committed and dedicated to the labour of the work for its own sake. Print Making Workshop

In this half-day workshop, participants will learn two unique print-making techniques: silk screen printing and letterpress. Silk Screen Printing - Designing and drawing the image - Transferring the image - Blocking the stencil with screen filler Letterpress - Introduction to moulds, blocks, plates and types - Demo of machines: Chandler & Price, Vandercook, Adana - Experiment with composing, typesetting and print.

Join us for an afternoon of tea, cookies and letterpress. Get a behind-the-scene look at a real print studio where we will give an introduction to the different presses, demonstrate how they work, and let you do a hands-on activity where you will get to print your own notecards!
